Tuesday October 4th

A woman sitting opposite us on a bench interrupted us and said to Jo, “Hey, beautiful lady … you are gorgeous … there’s something about you I can’t explain … I think it must be your aura, it’s remarkable”. I guess you had to be there really, but it was most peculiar, especially because only the day before Jo and I had been chatting about the effect she seems to have on people and we had come to the conclusion that it probably was her “aura” … whatever that might be.
We left the park and carried on exploring … which turned into a bit of a mega trek as we walked through Greenwich, Soho, Little Italy and then Chinatown where there were loads of fresh fish stalls … so we bought some of the largest scallops you’ve ever seen and a swordfish steak that wasn’t so much a steak like you get in the UK, it was a complete slice through the fish so the skin went all the way round in a ring and there was a backbone in the middle that wouldn’t have disgraced a shark! On to the twin towers “hole” and then down to battery park for a sit beside the river watching the world go by before being entertained by some acrobatic chaps who did an impromptu show to the tourists getting off the boats. Walked half way back and then caught a cab … after all we had probably covered almost 10 miles already! Scallops and salad for tea prepared by my fair self and OK it was too!
