Bad Day :-(

Quite apart from the fact that it was raining all day, I had a rather depressing shopping trip to Macy's. Remind me not to shop for spring clothes in October. Totally unable to find the sort of jacket I wanted - but was drawn to 1 that was really nice ... $995. Ouch. Found an even nicer one, that I would have considered ... but $595? Maybe in the sales. Did find one that would have been OK, but I seemed to be in between sizes so either the sleeves were too long or it was tight across the shoulders.

Hardly the end of the world, and on the way home see a "staples" shop which I remembered the shop assistant in Radio Shack telling me had a better range of headsets than they did. I have downloaded this SKYPE thingy which would let me make and take free international calls on my laptop - even while sitting in starbucks(!) but I need a headset to use it. Purchase headset, get home, and then discover my uber-trendy laptop is so uber-trendy that it doesn't actually have a microphone socket on it :-( Ah well. A bit of research yields that I can buy a USB headset instead - tempted to order it from amazon just to see if it arrives in time - but to be honest I won't get a chance to use it now so may as well wait until I get back to London :-(
