Monday October 10th

Jo’s last day, so we attempted to leave the apartment relatively early … not entirely successful but 10am is probably better than most days! Jo only managed 3 breakfasts today (sushi, then cornflakes, then some chicken salad) so not surprisingly we head straight to jambo juice for a carrot juice on union square to restore her energy after a walk south on Broadway. After a brief souvenir shopping expedition, we headed north again to visit an exhibition at the International Center of Photography … which was closed much to our amusement. Actually we both fell about laughing out loud at this one because we had had such a bad day yesterday trying to make our plans actually work that somehow it was fitting that today would have a mini-disaster as well!

To make amends, we took a subway trip south to the fashion area in search of (yet more) boots. Much success on the shopping front which resulted in a new handbag ($10), new sexy slinky top thing (hey, I’m a bloke, how am I expected to know all the names of the fancy stuff you girlies wear) ($8) and another handbag ($10). A few purchases later, we finally made it back just in time to have a quick drink on the roof and then head off to the airport.

Ah yes, the roof.

Did I mention we had a roof?

What a view … as good as being atop the Empire State Building but without all the queues!!

And then she was gone … I’m back in the apartment now and it all seems very quiet and lonely.
