Bye Bye NYC :(

Packed our things and took a tour of the roof before hopping on a bus south in search of Little Italy for lunch. Found a great market and wandered through looking at things and getting gradually hungrier as the smells from the market stalls did their evil business.

Anne found a rather nice looking restaurant (naturally "the best in little italy" according to the press cuttings outside) and we were soon tucking in to mussels, bruschetta, spaghetti and pizza over a rather nice chianti. And so that was the afternoon gone! Well ... almost.

We walked down to battery park to sit on a bench by the sea shore and watch the sun go down for the last time. Plan then was to hop on a number 1 bus back home, and after a short wait a number 6 arrived, pulled over and then left. Now of course I look at the timetable again to discover that the number 1 doesn't run on Sundays ... doh!! And of course the next number 6 seems to be over 10 mins late - so we set forth in search of a taxi instead after a small amount of fretting about actually making it back in time for the car to the airport. Thankfully getting a taxi is relatively easy once we abandon the somewhat deserted street with the bus stop and we arrive back with 5 mins to spare.

Phew!
